Bukola Saraki, Peter Obi and Others Join Lagos Governor to Lay Late Otunba to Rest in Lagos


Prominent political figures and dignitaries, including former Senate President Bukola Saraki and former presidential candidate Peter Obi, joined the Lagos State Governor and other leaders on Thursday, 29th January 2026, to pay their final respects to the late Otunba Adekunle Ojora, the Otunba of Lagos and Lisa of Ife, at his burial ceremony in Lagos.


The funeral, held in line with Islamic rites, drew a cross-section of Nigeria’s political, traditional, and business communities. Photos shared on Bukola Saraki’s official Instagram account captured solemn moments from the ceremony, showing Saraki and other dignitaries gathered to honour the distinguished elder and respected community leader.


In his tribute shared alongside the photos, Saraki expressed gratitude to everyone who stood with the family during the difficult period and appreciated the outpouring of prayers, messages, and support. The images from the event showed guests offering prayers and reflecting on Otunba Ojora’s enduring impact on Lagos and Nigeria at large.


Peter Obi was also present at the burial, standing alongside other guests as final respects were paid to the late traditional titleholder and businessman. His presence highlighted the wide respect Otunba Ojora commanded across political and social divides.


Otunba Adekunle Ojora was widely regarded as a leading figure in both corporate and traditional circles. His passing was described by family members as “the end of an era,” reflecting a lifetime of leadership, service, and influence.


Lagos State officials and several traditional rulers attended the ceremony, acknowledging Ojora’s contributions to the development and heritage of Lagos. The family expressed sincere appreciation to all who reached out, prayed, and stood by them, and asked for continued prayers as they mourn the loss of a beloved patriarch.
