Fubara: “If the sitting governor is contesting election, Omuma will not support him-Kelechi Nwogu
According to a report by Daily Post on Monday, December 29, 2025, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has claimed that he and his supporters possess the political strength and structure to deliver any candidate of their choice in elections.
He made the statement while addressing his political allies and supporters in Etche and Omuma Local Government Areas of Rivers State on Monday.
Wike emphasized that his political base played a crucial role in securing victories in previous elections in the state.
Wike highlighted that during the 2023 general election, he and his supporters took a firm stand to support President Bola Tinubu, ensuring the President’s victory in Rivers State.
He further noted that their political influence extended beyond the presidential election, according to Wike, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won all elective positions at both the national and state assemblies, as well as the governorship election in Rivers State.
The minister said that these electoral successes demonstrate the capacity of him and his supporters to mobilize and deliver victories.
Wike stated, “whatever he tells you, that is where I am,” while urging his supporters in Omuma Local Government Area to follow the guidance of Kelechi Nwogu, a member representing Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Kelechi Nwogu, speaking during the same meetings, expressed his position regarding the 2027 general elections.
He stated that if Governor Siminalayi Fubara seeks a second term, the people of Omuma will not support him. Nwogu reinforced his stance by telling Wike to go home and sleep as regards the 2027 elections, declaring, “if the sitting governor is contesting election, Omuma will not support him.”
Wike also emphasized the role of grassroots mobilization in political outcomes, he encouraged his supporters to remain active and engaged in the political process, stressing that consistent support and organization at the local level are key to achieving electoral victories, he praised his supporters for their commitment during past elections.
The minister concluded by calling on his allies to maintain unity and focus as the 2027 elections approach.
He reassured them that their political influence remains significant in shaping electoral outcomes in Rivers State, highlighting the importance of structured and coordinated efforts in ensuring success at the polls.
