Video: ‘Wike Knows That This Is The End And That Is Why He’s Fighting Tooth And Nail To Scuttle It’ - Sani

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Umar Sani has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of working against the party’s planned convention, claiming that Wike is resisting efforts aimed at resolving the internal crisis within the PDP. In an interview with Daily Trust, Sani said the convention was designed to restore order and strengthen the party’s structure, but alleged that Wike’s opposition stems from fears that it would diminish his influence.

According to Sani, the proposed convention would allow the PDP to reorganize and “ease out everybody who is not working for our interests.” He asserted that Wike’s resistance to the process is motivated by self-preservation. “Wike knows that this is the end, and that is why he is fighting tooth and nail to ensure that he scuttles it,” he said.

Sani also questioned the minister’s loyalty to the PDP, suggesting that Wike has already aligned himself with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in preparation for the 2027 general elections. He described Wike’s conduct as “anti-party,” alleging that the minister’s boldness is reinforced by allies within the PDP’s leadership who enable him to undermine party unity.

Despite the internal turmoil, Sani maintained that a recent court ruling did not prevent the PDP from holding its national convention. He insisted that the party still retains the legal authority to move forward with the event in the coming weeks, stressing that the convention remains essential for the PDP’s stability and credibility ahead of future elections.

The growing rift between Wike and other senior party members continues to fuel speculation about his political alignment and the future of the PDP as it seeks to rebuild and strengthen its opposition role.
