President Tinubu to Visit White House When The “Timing is Right”, says information minister Mohammed Idris

The Federal Government has clarified that President Bola Tinubu will visit the White House once the timing is appropriate, dismissing claims that he is avoiding the United States amid recent diplomatic strains. Tensions arose following US President Donald Trump’s designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” and his allegations of Christian p+rsecution in the country.

Speaking on Channels Television on Friday, November 21, Minister of Information Mohammed Idris assured that there is no breakdown in Nigeria–US relations, noting that both nations continue to engage on the issues raised by the Trump administration.

Responding to questions about why President Tinubu has not yet visited Washington, Idris emphasized that the president is not avoiding the US, but that diplomatic timing is key. He added that President Tinubu has previously visited America, including during his participation at the United Nations when he assumed office.
