Asked Wike To Call His Son, I Asked Fubara To Go To His Boss And Reconcile Indoor’ - Sara-Igbe

Rivers State elder statesman and Niger Delta activist Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe has revealed that he was responsible for facilitating the recent reconciliation between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Speaking during an interview with Symfoni TV, Chief Sara-Igbe detailed his role in bringing the two political leaders together. “I asked Wike to call his son, I asked Fubara to go to his boss and let them reconcile themselves indoor,” he said.

He reported that Wike responded positively to his mediation efforts. “That same day, the former governor, His Excellency the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike responded that, ‘Yes, he’s ready to make peace. That Fubara is his son,’” Chief Sara-Igbe stated.

He described the subsequent meetings that resulted from his intervention. “And we have seen the development. Fubara has been able to see Wike. They have been able to see the Assembly members, and they have seen the president together, and they have told Mr. President that they made peace back home,” he explained.

Chief Sara-Igbe emphasized that peace was necessary following what he characterized as financial misconduct during the emergency rule period. “We need peace after the looting of our treasury by the sole administrator. We have all seen that the Assembly lost out, the executive lost out. And so what we need to do is to build peace,” he said.

The elder statesman justified the governor’s engagement with opposition figures as part of the peace process. “So if the governor goes to them as part of the process, we went to them to discuss. And definitely, we discussed with his people. When you are doing peace, you don’t start with your people. Your people don’t have a problem. You go to where the problem is. And that is recovering back the resources that were carted away,” he said.
