Rivers: Gov’s Of PDP Went To Court, As I’m Speaking To You, Supreme Court Refused To Listen-Sara-Igbe

High Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe, a Niger Delta elder statesman and former spokesperson of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has expressed disappointment over the refusal of the Supreme Court to hear the case filed by governors of the Peoples Democratic PARTY concerning the suspension of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Speaking during an interview on SYMFONI TV, Sara-Igbe recounted the political crisis that followed the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu. He explained that the move led to Governor Fubara’s suspension from office, a development that prompted PDP governors to approach the courts in protest.

According to him, the decision of the PDP governors to seek legal redress was intended to protect democracy and challenge what they considered an infringement on the constitutional rights of an elected governor. However, he noted with concern that the Supreme Court has failed to address the matter despite its national importance.

Sara-Igbe stressed that the silence of the apex court has deepened uncertainty in Rivers State and across the Niger Delta, leaving the people without clarity on the legality of the emergency actions taken against their governor. He argued that the refusal to hear the case undermines confidence in the judiciary at a time when citizens look to the courts for justice and protection of democratic principles.

“When you look at all that scenario, the governor’s of the PDP went to court, as I’m speaking to you now, the Supreme Court refused to listen to them,” Sara-Igbe said.
