Magnus Abe Was Almost Killed In Bori Rally, Amaechi Came With Helicopter And Took Him Away- Badey
Suage Badey, the son of Ogoni elder Albert Badey, has expressed his agreement with Senator Magnus Abe’s recent remarks regarding the situation in Ogoni land. He concurred with Abe’s point that currently, no one person can adequately represent the Ogoni people.
In a discussion with Arise TV, Badey recounted an incident from many years ago when Senator Abe narrowly escaped death in Bori, the traditional center of the Ogoni community, during former Governor Rotimi Amaechi’s administration. He described how Abe faced harassment at a rally there, with the crowd hurling objects at him and nearly ripping his clothes.
Badey noted that it was Governor Amaechi who ultimately intervened, arranging for a helicopter to swiftly evacuate Abe from the scene.
As Badey stated: “Even Magnus himself nearly lost his life years ago under the Amaechi administration. He attended a rally in Bori where things were thrown at him, and he was almost attacked before Amaechi arrived and got him out in a helicopter. So why would anyone want to harm him? And even if he made a mistake, does that justify wanting to kill him?”
