I Don’t Need Your House Of Reps Seat; Let’s Give It To Someone Else To Prove That I’m Popular - Ajadi
Politician Saheed Ajadi has said that holding onto political positions at all costs is not a true measure of leadership or popularity. In a recent interview on TVC News, he dismissed the notion that a House of Representatives seat is necessary to prove his relevance, stating, “I Don’t Need Your House Of Reps Seat; Let’s Give It To Someone Else To Prove That I’m Popular.”
Ajadi explained that popularity is about people’s trust and confidence, which cannot be forced or bought through political office. He argued that a leader who is genuinely accepted will remain influential whether or not he occupies a position.
According to him, the desperation for power displayed by many politicians is one of the reasons Nigeria struggles with instability and inconsistency in governance. He stressed that a credible leader must be willing to step aside and still retain relevance among the people.
Ajadi pointed to his long political career, much of it spent in opposition, as proof that influence does not begin and end with winning elections. He maintained that he has built structures, loyalty, and recognition that have endured regardless of titles.
He concluded that Nigerian politics must evolve beyond the scramble for offices, urging citizens to look out for leaders with principles and foresight. For him, true service is about impact, not the position one holds.
