FG Cancels Independence Day Anniversary Parade
The Federal Government on Monday announced the cancellation of the parade earlier scheduled for October 1 to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
In a statement signed by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), the government stressed that the decision “is in no way a diminishment of the significance of this milestone anniversary.”
The SGF affirmed that all other activities planned for the celebration will go ahead as scheduled, adding that government remains committed to marking the occasion “with dignity and enthusiasm.”
While regretting any inconvenience caused by the cancellation, the statement expressed appreciation to Nigerians, the diplomatic community, and invited guests for their understanding and support. It further urged citizens to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reforms aimed at building a greater nation.
