EFCC Can Spend Resources To Jail Those Committing Naira Abuse, But Isn’t Looking At Wike - ChidiOdinkalu


Chidi Odinkalu, a respected human rights lawyer and former chairman of the national human rights commission has taken to his official X handle to react after the EFCC remained silent over the recent allegations against FCT minister and former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike. According to his statements which drew widespread attention from the general public, he pointed out that they cannot be treated seriously


The former governor of Rivers State and FCT minister, Nyesom Wike was recently on the spotlight for the wrong reasons after he was accused alongside his wife, Eberechi Suzette Wike for procuring properties in the United States.


The said properties, which included houses was however not disputed by the former governor as he claimed they were procured as a gift for his wife by his father. The assertions were swiftly countered, as many demanded evidence to back the claims.


However, while many commended the former governor, Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights lawyer and legal expert in a recent statement which was shared on his official X handle, tackled the EFCC for their silence.


According to his statements which had garnered widespread traction across various social media platforms, he pointed out that the failure of the anti-graft agency to look the case of the FCT minister was alarming.


Chidi Odinkalu, known for his fearless and bold remarks, pointed out that the EFCC cannot be treated seriously.


“The EFCC which can spend resources to jail those committing naira abuse, is unlooking the case of the humongous American properties of the life bencher and his wife....How does it expect anyone to treat it seriously?” He wrote.
