Video: Nigerians Won’t Vote For You In 2027: Rivers Youths Ask Tinubu To Correct Mistake And Reinstate Fubara

In a charged demonstration, youths from Rivers State, under the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), have warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that his re-election bid in 2027 could be jeopardized if he fails to address the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State. The protesters, who blocked the vital East/West Road for over ten hours, demanded the immediate removal of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, whom they accuse of fueling instability in the state. 

They urged Tinubu to reinstate Governor Siminalayi Fubara to stabilize the region and restore peace.

The IYC, led by National President Dr. Alaye Theophilus, condemned Wike’s alleged derogatory remarks against the Ijaw people, describing them as unacceptable and divisive. Theophilus accused Wike of orchestrating the political turmoil in Rivers State, warning that continued inaction could lead to severe economic disruptions due to the strategic importance of the East/West Road, a key link between the Niger Delta, Lagos, and northeastern Nigeria. The group issued an ultimatum, threatening further protests if their demands are not met by March 21, 2025

The youths emphasized that Tinubu’s silence risks alienating the Ijaw community, a significant voting bloc, potentially costing him crucial support in 2027. They argued that Wike’s actions, including his alleged role in the Rivers State House of Assembly crisis, undermine democratic processes and exacerbate tensions. The IYC called for swift federal intervention to prevent further unrest and safeguard economic stability.

This protest follows a broader wave of discontent, with figures like former Minister Rotimi Amaechi also criticizing Tinubu’s administration, citing widespread hunger and electoral malpractices in Rivers State. As the 2027 elections approach, Tinubu faces mounting pressure to address these regional grievances to secure his political future.
