Odi-Olowo LCDA Mourns as Youngest Councillor, Hon. Zainab Shotayo, D+es at 30–Two Weeks after Swearing-In
The Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of Hon. Zainab Adeshewa Shotayo, councillor representing Ward C3.
Shotayo, who was just 30 years old, passed away after a brief illness, barely weeks after being sworn in as a councillor on July 12, 2025, following the Lagos State local government elections. She also served as the Chief Whip of the LCDA’s 6th Legislative Arm.
Confirming the sad news, the Council Chairman, Hon. Seyi Jakande, described her de@th as a dev@stating loss to the entire community. In a statement from his media office, Jakande paid glowing tribute to the late councillor, noting that she was not only the youngest member of the council but also a resilient and inspiring leader.
“Her role as Chief Whip highlighted her dedication to public service and her commitment to uplifting her constituents. She was a role model, especially for young women aspiring to leadership,” Jakande said.
He extended condolences on behalf of the council to her family, friends, and the people of Ward C3, urging the community to stand together in grief while honouring the legacy she leaves behind.
