Chidi Odinkalu Reacts After Nyesom Wike Was Captured Inside Church With Heavy Security Protection
Renowned human rights lawyer and former National Human Rights Commission chairman, Chidi Odinkalu, recently weighed in after former Rivers State governor and FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, was photographed inside a church surrounded by heavy security.
Odinkalu, writing on his verified X account, criticized the former governor for bringing a large security detail into a sacred place, suggesting that such an action was unnecessary and disrespectful.
He further noted that Wike appeared unable to remain awake during the service, implying that he was incapacitated despite the significant protection around him.
In his post, Odinkalu remarked, “…these people who go inside church with a retinue of security protection, like God is too weak to protect them even when they are too inebriated to stay awake in church?” The comments drew attention and debate on social media, with Odinkalu using the incident to question both the ostentatious display of security and the former governor’s conduct during a religious gathering.
