BAT: Wike And Fubara Have Declared They’ve Made Peace Yet Emergency Rule Hasn’t Been Lifted -Okonkwo
Nigerian lawyer, Kenneth Okonkwo has taken to his official X account on Sunday, August 17, 2025 to criticize President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the emergency rule that he declared in Rivers state.
This came as the Sole Administrator in Rivers state sets to conduct Local Government Area Election on August 30.
In the statement that was published by SUNDAY SUN, the Nigerian lawyer said the act is unconstitutional.
He said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should have restored the governor of Rivers state, Siminalayi Fubara and all members of the Rivers state House of Assembly because the suspended governor and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike have publicly declared that they have now embraced peace.
Kenneth Okonkwo told President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to stop the Sole Administrator from conducting election in the state.
According to SUNDAY SUN, here is what Kenneth Okonkwo said;
“Wike and Fubara have publicly declared that they have made peace, yet the state of emergency has not been lifted”
