Rivers Assembly Speaker, Rivers State PDP Chairman, Others Bid Farewell to Hon Chidi Ogbonda [Photo]

According to a post by Honourable Martins Wachukwu on 19 July 2025, the Special Assistant on Media to the Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule joined prominent political leaders from Obio/Akpor Local Government Area to bid farewell to late Hon. Chidi Ogbonda, JP, at Eliozu community.

The burial, which was preceded by a solemn service of songs, witnessed a large turnout of dignitaries, friends, and sympathizers who came from far and near to pay their final respect to the late statesman.

In his remarks at the ceremony, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule, expressed shock over the loss, describing the deceased as a dependable ally and grassroots mobilizer who played a key role in strengthening the party’s base in the local government.

Rt. Hon. Amaewhule extended his condolences to the family of the deceased and the entire community and prayed God to grant the soul of the deceased eternal rest.

Other dignitaries at the burial described Hon. Ogbonda as a man of honour, humility, and service who dedicated his life to the progress of his community and the PDP in Obio/Akpor.
