FG Executes 500 Health Projects in Two Years, Commissions Three World-Class Cancer Centres in Benin – Minister of Health, Ali Pate

Nigeria’s Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, says the Federal Government has completed over 500 health projects and established three world-class cancer centres within the first two years of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking on Thursday at the commissioning of a state-of-the-art oncology centre at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Edo State, Pate described the progress as a major shift from “rhetoric to action” in the country’s healthcare sector.

He said the new cancer centre in Benin is the third to be completed, with three more under development in Zaria, Jos, and Lagos.

The minister noted that a total of 501 projects have been implemented across 61 federal tertiary hospitals, along with the revitalisation of numerous primary healthcare centres across the country, including several in Edo State.

He credited President Tinubu’s commitment to prioritising citizens’ well-being as the driving force behind the infrastructure improvements.

“This President chose to focus on a sector that directly affects ordinary Nigerians and has backed that with real investment,” Pate said. “We’ve gone decades without this kind of action, but this administration is changing that narrative.”
