Minnesota Lawmaker Melissa Hortman K+lled, Senator John Hoffman Inj¥red in Suspected Politically-Motivated Att@ck in the U.S
A de@dly sh%%ting spree rocked Minnesota early Saturday as a masked g¥nman dressed as a police officer fatally sh%t Democratic State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, and wo¥nded State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife in what Governor Tim Walz described as a “targeted political act of v+olence.”
Authorities say the suspect, 57-year-old Vance Luther Boelter, is still at large. He reportedly wore a realistic latex mask and posed as law enforcement while carrying out the att@cks.
The first sh%%ting occurred around 2 a.m. at the Champlin home of Sen. Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, both of whom sustained multiple g¥nshot wo¥nds and were rushed into s¥rgery. Gov. Walz said he is “cautiously optimistic” about their recovery.
Roughly 90 minutes later, officers responding to the earlier incident arrived at the Brooklyn Park home of Rep. Hortman, where they encountered the suspect exiting the residence dressed in tactical gear. A sh%%tout ensued, but the suspect managed to flee on foot. Hortman and her husband, Mark, were found de@d inside.
Hortman, a former Speaker of the Minnesota House, was remembered by Gov. Walz as “a formidable public servant” and “irreplaceable.”
Investigators discovered the suspect’s vehicle at the scene, outfitted to resemble a police cruiser. Inside, officers found a hit list naming Hortman, Hoffman, and other prominent Minnesota Democrats, including Gov. Walz, Rep. Ilhan Omar, Sen. Tina Smith, and Attorney General Keith Ellison.
Authorities are probing whether Boelter had personal connections to the victims, noting that he previously served on a state workforce board alongside Hoffman.
The FBI and local agencies continue to search for Boelter and are urging the public to remain vigilant as the manh¥nt intensifies.
