My Sister Was K+lled by Police Escort, Not Bandits — Taraba Governor Kefas

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has debunked earlier reports that his sister, Atsi Kefas, was k+lled by bandits, revealing instead that she was fatally shot by a police escort assigned to their mother.

Speaking to journalists in Jalingo, the state capital, Governor Kefas explained that Atsi was travelling with their mother from Jalingo to Abuja in 2024 when the tragic incident occurred. Contrary to initial assumptions of a bandit att@ck on the Wukari–Chinkai Road, he said investigations confirmed that the police escort, who was in the same vehicle, shot her at close range.

“Life is very precious to me. You can’t just take a life and think God will be pleased. My younger sister was sh0t and k+lled by a police officer meant to protect my mother,” the governor said.

He added that during s¥rgery, pellets from the firearm were discovered in her body, but she eventually succumbed to the inj¥ries. The officer responsible is currently under investigation, with the governor stressing the need for justice.

Governor Kefas also spoke on the de@dly v+olence in Karim-Lamido Local Government Area, where over 50 people were reportedly k+lled. He observed a minute of silence in honour of both his sister and the Karim-Lamido victims, condemning the increasing unrest in parts of the state and urging citizens to embrace peace and unity.
