Akwa Ibom Governor’s Daughter Accuses Father of ‘Sacrificing’ Late Wife, Raises Alarm Over Threat to Life
Jane Edidiong Ufot, daughter of Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno, has sparked public shock and concern after releasing a video on social media accusing her father of involvement in the death of her mother, Patience Oluwakemi Umo Eno, who passed away in September 2024 following an undisclosed illness.
In the disturbing video on Friday, Mrs Ufot, who serves as the governor’s Senior Special Adviser on Health, Safety, and Environment, alleged that her mother was “sacrificed” and warned that she and her young daughter were now in danger.
“I’m not a sacrifice, mummy was, but I’m not,” Mrs. Ufot declared in the video, visibly distressed.
The video also shows her daughter, seemingly on a video call with Governor Eno, being prompted to ask, “So, Grandpa, do you want them to kill us? Do you want them to die like my baby brother died?”
No response from the governor was heard during the call. The identities of those referred to as “them” in the child’s question remain unclear.
Mrs. Ufot suggested that her life is in danger due to sensitive information she may soon reveal. “If I die today or my daughter dies. If we die because God is exposing the truth, so be it. But my blood will not go scot-free,” she stated.
Attempts to reach the governor’s media aide, Ekerete Udoh, for a response were unsuccessful, as his phone remained switched off at the time of reporting.
The accusations have triggered widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians demanding a thorough investigation into the claims. As of now, no official statement has been issued by the Akwa Ibom State Government.
