We Will Not Sit Down, Fold Hands And Watch Our Governor Dragged To The Mud - Concerned Youths
Tension is brewing in Bayelsa State following a strong statement issued by youth leaders under the Concerned Youths of Bayelsa State, targeting the pro-Wike group known as the NEW Associates. The group, led by Mr. George Turner, recently sparked controversy after holding a rally in Yenagoa, which reportedly witnessed gunshots nearby.
At a press briefing, the youth leaders accused the group of sowing seeds of division and attempting to tarnish the peace sustained by Governor Douye Diri. They specifically cautioned a former spokesman of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) over alleged “reckless remarks” accusing the governor of orchestrating attacks during the gathering.
The youths described such claims as baseless and dangerous, asserting that the state would no longer tolerate attempts to destabilize its political environment. They vowed to defend the integrity of the state and its leadership.
The statement read in part, “ljaw youths will no longer sit, watch or fold their arms and look at these relevance seekers drag our governor or his government’s name to the mud because of the peanut motivated rallies or gatherings that they wish to have or hold. Enough is enough!”
