Governor Fubara Directs HLGAs to Take Over Administration of All 23 LGAs Pending Fresh Elections

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has ordered Heads of Local Government Administration (HLGAs) to immediately assume control of all 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs). 

The Governoe said the directive will remain in effect until the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) conducts fresh elections.

The Supreme Court on friday nullified the October 5, 2024, Rivers local government election in a unanimous ruling

The apex court held that the election was conducted in violation of relevant laws.
