Residents Protest at PHED Office in Port Harcourt Over High Estimated Bills


Earlier today, a group of angry residents staged a protest at the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) office, located at 1 Moscow Road, Old GRA, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.


The protesters voiced their frustration over what they described as exorbitant estimated electricity bills. Many of them carried placards demanding fairness and transparency in billing practices. 


A major demand from the demonstrators was the immediate installation of prepaid meters to ensure accurate billing and prevent exploitation.


One of the protesters stated, “We are tired of paying outrageous bills for electricity we don’t even consume. We need prepaid meters to ensure fairness.”


This incident highlights growing concerns over electricity billing practices in Port Harcourt, with residents calling for swift action from the relevant authorities.
