Wike diverted NIbn yearly to Odili’s private university, Rivers teachers went unpaid - APC chieftain, Chibuike Ikenga
According to a report from DAILY POST on Monday, January 13, Chibuike Ikenga, spokesperson for a faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by Tony Okocha, made serious allegations regarding the financial priorities of former Governor Nyesom Wike.
Ikenga claimed that Wike diverted N1 billion each year to support a private university owned by former Governor Peter Odili while disregarding the payment of teachers in Rivers State.
Ikenga argued that this misallocation of funds had dire consequences for the educational sector, resulting in unpaid salaries for teachers. He emphasized that while Wike invested heavily in Odili’s private institution, many educators were left in financial distress, highlighting a significant imbalance in governance priorities.
The APC chieftain expressed concern over the implications of such financial decisions on the quality of education in the state. He suggested that the focus should be on addressing the pressing needs of public education rather than funding private enterprises at the expense of public servants.
