Rivers: You said you are a popular politician, why not go and float a political party?-Robinson Ewoh

The Chairman of Elechi Amadi Polytechnic’s Governing Council has issued a direct challenge to Rivers State politicians claiming mass support, urging them to prove their popularity through the ballot box.

In a video shared on Symfoni TV, Hon Robinson Ewoh specifically addressed claims of popularity by Martin Amaewhule and his fellow lawmakers, questioning the depth of their public support.

“You said you are a popular politician, why not go and float a political party so that Nigerians can see your popularity, so that we can test your popularity in an election?” Ewoh challenged. He then directed his comments specifically at certain politicians: “Martin Amaewhule and co said they are popular. They are very popular, they have acceptability in the state. Why not go into an election and see if Rivers people from their various constituencies will return them?”

The comments came in response to assertions of widespread support for Amaewhule and 27 other lawmakers in Rivers State. Ewoh’s challenge suggests a skepticism about claims of political influence that haven’t been tested through direct electoral contests.

His intervention adds to ongoing political debates in Rivers State, particularly regarding the true measure of political leadership and public support in the region. The statement effectively calls for a practical demonstration of political influence through democratic processes rather than mere assertions of popularity.
