You Have A Problem: Fubara Replies Wike

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has responded to critics of his administration, accusing them of being frustrated with the progress his government has made.

According to Fubara, these individuals are intent on controlling the state as their “personal estate,” but he emphasized that his administration is committed to ensuring that Rivers remains a state for all its people.

Fubara made these remarks during an interdenominational church Thanksgiving service held at St. Paul’s Cathedral of the Anglican Communion in Port Harcourt.

The event was part of the activities marking Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day celebration on Sunday.

The governor highlighted his administration’s firm control over state affairs, dismissing those who question his leadership. He noted that despite opposition, his government has remained focused on advancing projects aimed at improving the lives of Rivers people. Fubara pointed to several milestones already achieved under his leadership, suggesting that these accomplishments were causing frustration among his detractors.

During his speech, a key point of discussion was the N200 billion loan secured from Zenith Bank to fund a significant state infrastructure project.

The governor clarified that he personally signed the loan documents for the 50.15-kilometer Port Harcourt Ring Road project, a dual carriage road that his administration has prioritized.

He clarified that he needed the loan to initiate the project, which aims to improve connectivity and simplify transportation in the state.

Fubara also took the opportunity to address what he described as “false narratives” circulating in some quarters. He expressed his determination to correct any misconceptions surrounding the administration’s decisions, particularly regarding the funding of key projects.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Rivers State, vowing to continue working towards the state’s development and ensuring that it remains a common resource for all its citizens.
