Kano, Zaria, Funtua, others to suffer major power outage – TCN

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says residents of Kano, Funtua, Zaria, among others, would witness power supply disruption on Sunday and Monday as a result of major relocation works.

TCN, which made this known in a statement on Saturday, said the power outage is due to relocation of 330kV and 132kV towers.

The statement signed by General Manager, Public Affairs, , Ndidi Mbah, reads in full : “The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will be relocating some of its towers along the Kaduna-Kano 330kV transmission line due to the ongoing construction of a new rail line by the Federal Government.

Consequently, there will be a 12-hour power outage on Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 7:00 A.M to 7:00 P.M. As a result, Kano will receive minimal load supply on the 132kV Zaria-Dangora Line.

” Similarly, some 132kv Towers on the 132kV Kaduna-Zaria-Funtua-Gusau Line will be relocated between Monday October 30 to Wednesday November 1st, 2023, to make way for the same name and railway project. During these days, Funtua and Gusau will be supplied from the Birnin Kebbi- Sokoto axis, while Zaria and angora will be supplied from the Kano-Tamburawa axis.

“Once the tower relocation project is completed, Kaduna Electric will be able to restore full supply to its customers.

We regret any inconvenience that the relocation work may cause to electricity consumers in the affected areas.”
